Checking out materials for the first time
Anyone who lives, works or attends schools in Kizugawa City, Soraku-Gun (Seika-cho, Wazuka-cho, Kasagi-cho, Minamiyamashiro-mura), and Ide-cho is eligible to borrow library materials such as books, dvds, videos, cds, magazines. There is no fee.
We have three library branches in the city which are Chuou (Kizu) Library, Kamo Library, and Yamashiro Library. You can use your library card at any city library branch.
Applying for a library card
When you apply for a library card, please present any document which can confirm your name, residential address and date of birth, such as a driver’s license, Health Insurance card, Student ID, or Residence Certification.
Then fill out an application form and hand it at the counter at any of the library branches.
Searching for materials
You can search and reserve items by Internet and OPAC.
You will need a password when you reserve items.
You can receive items at any library in the city.
Feel free to ask library staff if you have any questions about materials.
Borrowing・Returning・Renewing
Borrowing
You can borrow up to a maximum of 10 items of library materials, including up to two audiovisual items for each branch for a period of 15 days.
*Members are responsible for any library materials used or borrowed and will incur charges for any lost or damaged items.
Returning
Please return items to any library or the book drop at Saganakadai-Shogakkou regardless of where you borrow it. You do not need your card or receipt to return items. When the library is closed, you can return items in our book drop at the entrance of each library.
However, audiovisual items and big books should be returned to the return desk.
Renewing
You can renew items only once for an additional fifteen days, unless another member has reserved them. You cannot renew audiovisual items and big books.
You need a password to renew books on the Internet.
Reserving・Requesting
Reserving
You can reserve up to ten materials, including up to two audiovisual items for each branch which are out on loan to other members. When your reservation is ready, we’ll email or call you.
We will set aside your reserved books for one week after we call or email you.
The reserved books are only to the person themselves.
The reserved books are cancelled after one week, from we called or emailed you.
Reserving on the Internet You can search and reserve items on the Internet. You need a password to reserve on the internet. If you have registered your email address, you will receive notification by email, hon-yoyaku@kizu.ed.jp.
Make sure you can receive our email.
Requesting
If you are citizen, you can request up to three items not in stock at the libraries. We can obtain items by purchasing or borrowing from other libraries in Kyoto Prefecture. Let us know when you don’t need the books you requested.
Photocopies
Photocopies are available only for items in the library. You can make copies of resources belonging to the libraries at cost within the scope of copyright Laws.
Black and white photocopies cost 10 yen per sheet. Color Photocopies cost 50 yen per sheet.
Regional use
Anyone who lives in Kizugawa City can use libraries in Soraku-Gun (Seika-cho, Wazuka-cho, Kasagi-cho, Minamiyamashiro-mura) and Ide-cho is eligible to borrow items after you register your information at each library.
